Campaign Demands Councilman Bhalla’s Endorsement

Today the campaign announced that it is demanding the endorsement of Hoboken Councilman Ravi Bhalla, who was recently elected with the help of Artie Lange.  As part of his election bid, Bhalla touted a video endorsement by Lange (see the video below).  The effect of Lange’s endorsement was enormous as Bhalla received more votes than any other council candidate.

The impact of his endorsement on the election’s outcome demonstrates Artie’s effectiveness as a leader.  “For those people who believe that Artie Lange would be unfit to represent the residents of Hoboken, I ask you to look at what his endorsement did for Councilman Bhalla,” said Campaign Manager Bob Abouey, “The people of Hoboken trust Artie’s judgment.”

In the brief video endorsement, Artie shows a clear command of the issues affecting Hoboken residents.  “There’s a lot of issues going on right now that that are very important, like the raising of all sorts of taxes,” said Lange. “And you can see that I don’t have enough money for proper clothing anymore so I need a good man like Ravi in the City Council helping me out.”

The Campaign to elect Artie Lange Mayor of Hoboken believes that Bhalla has an obligation to return the favor by providing Artie with his endorsement.

Campaign Kickoff Wiffle Ball Tournament

On Saturday, August 29, 2009, Big League Wiffle Ball (“BLWB”) will host our Campaign Kickoff Wiffle Ball Tournament at a field in Hoboken to be determined.  Teams of 1 to 5 can sign up for this free event at the campaign’s website, http://www.mayorartie.com, under the tab “Kickoff”.  Sub sandwiches will be provided free of charge by Hoboken’s local Blimpie Sub and Sandwich.  Pre-registration will begin at 9:00am and the tournament will start promptly at 10:00am.  More details will follow.

BLWB (http://www.bigleaguewiffleball.com) is the creation of Nick Benas and Jared Verrillo. The childhood friends grew up in Guilford, CT, a mere flyball’s distance from the WIFFLE factory where the bats and balls are made in Shelton, CT. Jared says, “We created a top-notch WIFFLE field on a cul–de-sac at the end of Bunker Hill Road.” It was on this field that the dream of BLWB had its genesis. Nick says, “As a kid, the idea definitely occurred to me that if I could do this full-time, I would.” The seed didn’t find soil until Nick completed his schooling and service with the Marine Corps, including a tour in Iraq training Iraqi police. Jared finished school as well. Both found themselves working their nine-to-fives, until the American dream began to gnaw at them with memories of those WIFFLE games on Bunker Hill Road. They decided to give it a shot, and Big League WIFFLE ball was born. That was January 2007, and they haven’t looked back. Booking tournaments across the country, watching families and friends compete at what was once considered a child’s game, being contacted for appearances on television shows like Fox’s “This Week in Baseball” and CNBC’s “The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch,” and watching WIFFLE capture a nation’s sporting attention has them certain they made the right choice. Not too proud to give something back, a portion of their profits are dedicated to The Jimmy Fund which supports cancer research and care at Boston’s Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. “My mother battled and beat cancer, so this charity is important to me,” Nick says. For media inquires please email BLWB at media@bigleaguewiffleball.com.
